SIL accommodation
in Sydney.
Supported Independent Living homes across South West Sydney, Western Sydney, St George and Macarthur, from a registered NDIS provider whose support team is in the homes every day.
What Supported Independent Living is.
SIL is NDIS funding for the people who support you at home, so you can live as independently as possible. The funding covers the support, not the property, and the right home makes all the difference.
The support
Help with cooking, personal care, medication, routines and building life skills, from support workers employed and trained by AllCare and matched to each home. You meet them before anything starts.
The home
Ordinary houses and apartments in ordinary Sydney streets, with fully furnished bedrooms, modern kitchens and bathrooms, smart TV and fast Wi-Fi, outdoor space and 24/7 on-call support.
What you pay
Rent or board and everyday living costs, usually from the Disability Support Pension with Commonwealth Rent Assistance helping with the rent. Your NDIS plan pays for the support hours.

Support that actually feels supportive.
Plenty of providers can hand you a room. What decides whether SIL works is the support inside it: whether the workers know you, whether the roster is stable, and whether someone answers the phone when your family calls. Our support workers are AllCare staff, matched to each home, and you meet them before anything starts.
We are honest about fit. If a home is wrong for you, or transport in an area will not suit your goals, we say so and help you keep looking, including through partner providers across Australia. A placement that fails helps nobody, least of all you.
Tours cost nothing and commit you to nothing. Bring family, your support coordinator or anyone who helps you decide, and see as many homes as you like.
SIL in Sydney: the questions everyone asks.
What does SIL accommodation mean?
Supported Independent Living, or SIL, is an NDIS support that funds help or supervision with daily tasks so you can live as independently as possible, usually in a shared home with other NDIS participants. The funding covers the support workers, not the house itself. You pay rent or board and everyday living costs like anyone else.
How much does the NDIS pay for SIL?
There is no single figure. Your SIL funding is set in your NDIS plan based on your assessed support needs, from a few shared support hours a day up to 24/7 support with an active overnight worker. What the funding covers is the support roster in the home. It never covers rent, food or utilities, which residents pay themselves, usually from the Disability Support Pension with Commonwealth Rent Assistance.
Who is eligible for SIL in Sydney?
SIL generally suits NDIS participants aged 18 or over who need significant help with daily tasks at home, often around the clock. Eligibility is decided by the NDIA through your plan, not by providers. If you are not sure whether SIL, ILO or another home and living support fits, ask us or your support coordinator to talk it through before your plan meeting.
Is SIL the same as SDA?
No, and mixing them up causes real confusion. SIL pays for the people who support you, while Specialist Disability Accommodation funding relates to specially designed buildings for people with extreme functional impairment. Most SIL residents do not have SDA funding. Our Narellan and Campbelltown homes are enrolled SDA dwellings, and our other homes are SIL.
