Supported Independent Living in Goulburn: Regional Life, Real Support
A slower pace, shorter distances and a community that knows each other. What SIL looks like in our Goulburn home in the Southern Tablelands.

Why regional living suits some people better
Goulburn is a regional city in the Southern Tablelands, not a Sydney suburb, and that is exactly why some participants and families choose it. The pace is slower, distances across town are short, and the community is the kind where people tend to know each other. For someone who finds big-city noise and crowds draining, that difference is felt every single day.
What is close by
Auburn Street is the main shopping strip, with Goulburn Marketplace nearby for supermarkets and larger stores. Goulburn Base Hospital is about a kilometre from the centre of town, so regular and specialist appointments do not automatically mean a trip to Sydney. Belmore Park and Victoria Park give open green space right in the middle of town.
Goulburn station is on the Main Southern Line, with NSW TrainLink services toward Sydney and Canberra. These are scheduled regional trains, so trips out of town are planned in advance rather than turn-up-and-go. Within Goulburn itself, most places are a short drive and local buses run across the city.
Inside the home
Our Goulburn SIL home has spacious living areas, a low-maintenance yard and tailored on-site support, in a quiet regional setting. It suits people who want room to breathe, a steady routine, and support that fits around their day rather than dictating it.
Funding and next steps
SIL in Goulburn works the same way as anywhere else in NSW: it is funded through your NDIS plan. If you are weighing up a move from Sydney or elsewhere in the region, we can talk through what the transition would actually involve. Start with a call, or read New to the NDIS? if the scheme is new to you.
Frequently asked questions
