Supported Independent Living in Bexley: A Local Guide

Thinking about SIL in Sydney's St George area? What life in our Bexley home looks like, who it suits, and how to arrange a visit.

Why families look at Bexley

Bexley sits in Sydney's St George area, tucked between Rockdale and Hurstville, which means most of what makes a week work is a short trip rather than a long journey. Shops and cafes along Forest Road and Bexley Road, Westfield Hurstville about ten minutes away, and Brighton-Le-Sands beach close enough for a walk by the water on a good afternoon.

For many participants, choosing Bexley is really about staying connected: to family in the St George area, to familiar places, and to routines that already work. Supported Independent Living done well brings the support to where life already happens.

Getting around from the Bexley home

Bexley has no station of its own, but three sit close by: Bexley North on the T8 line about 1.4km away, and Rockdale and Kogarah on the T4 line at about 1.6km and 1.9km. Frequent buses run along Forest Road and Bexley Road toward Hurstville and Rockdale. If building independent travel skills is one of your goals, there are real options here to practise with.

St George Hospital at Kogarah is about 2.5km away, which matters if regular appointments are part of your week.

Inside the home

Our Bexley SIL home is a modern share home in an established, quiet residential street, with on-site support and 24/7 on-call backup. Bedrooms come furnished and the interiors are kept modern and comfortable.

Housemate matching matters to us. We introduce people before anyone moves in, because the right mix of personalities is what turns a house into a home.

How funding works

SIL is funded through the NDIS as part of your plan. If SIL funding is already in place, we can talk about vacancies straight away. If not, we can help you and your support coordinator understand what a plan review would need. New to all of this? Start with our plain-English guide, New to the NDIS?
